What is Included
- MacBook Pro 13"
- Purple clamshell cover (so it is easy to distinguish from the student computers)
- Protective sleeve (to put it in before placing in a bag)
- Power adapter (with white power cord for additional length)
Labels on Computer and Power Adapter
The computer and power adapter are labeled with your first name followed by the name of the computer (firstname - computername). In keeping with tradition, the computer name is a street name from the school neighborhood (although we are having to expand the definition of neighborhood with every new computer!) If you care about your computer's name and don't care for its current one, let me know and I will change it and relabel it.
Signing In
- Username to use: Faculty
- Initial Password: (see John or Kathy if you don't know it....this should be changed so no one else has access to your files)
Printing
All networked printers (9-12/MS classroom printers, workroom copier and main office copier) are setup on the computer for use.
Student Use
While this computer is meant for your use, it is built the same as the student computers. This means that it can be made available for students to use if the need were to arise. As long as students are signed into another account (e.g. the 6-9 student account), they will not be able to see your "teacher" files.
Computer Care
Here are a few reminders about taking care of the computer:
- Use the computer without the power adapter regularly. Don't try to keep it charged up all of the time. Running the battery down and then recharging it helps extend it's lifespan.
- Liquids, snow, and ice do not go well with computers. A small amount of liquid can severely damage the computer. Please use the sleeve provided when going outside and be careful with drinks, etc.
- Prolonged exposure to extreme heat or cold can damage the computer. (Traveling to/from school in all weather is fine...just don't leave it in a car, for instance, once you are home.)
- When the computer is not at school or in your home (in the car, traveling, etc.), try to avoid situations where you will need to step away from it.
